Aloqa is an interesting location-based recommendation application for the HTC Incredible and Android. With Aloqa you’ll “always be a local”, as their tagline goes. The app lets you configure settings with your interests and categories. Once configured, you’ll be notified every time something new occurs within your locality corresponding to those categories. It comes with a very wide range of categories to pick from, so it’s unlikely that you’ll be left wanting in that department. The notifications can be further configured based on which categories they correspond to – so you can have your Incredible just vibrate when something low-priority happens.
You can use Aloqa to notify you about almost anything, ranging from local concerts to new shopping opportunities. It’s incredibly useful while traveling and especially so when you’re driving through a series of towns and looking for a spot to eat – you just have to wait for the notifications to come in as you pass the dining options. It’s quite light on the battery, since you don’t need to bring the app up every time you want to use it – all you do is look at the notifications.
